Patong BeachPatong Beach

Patong Beach is the most important tourism destination in Phuket Island. This bustling and vibrant beachside town was originally a fisherman’s village named after the huge number of banana trees (Patong is Thai for 'banana plantation') planted here long time ago... Today, this 3.5 km-long beach is lined with hotels, restaurants, shops and tour agents. The main shopping attraction is Jungceylon (a mere 10-minute walk from Tropical Inn) where you’ll find just about anything you desire: supermarkets, boutiques, restaurants, cinemas, bowling arcades and much more.

Patong Beach is mostly famous for its incomparable nightlife; whether on Bangla Road or Soi Paradise Complex: its many A-go-go-bars, beer-bars, discotheques, sport-bars, Thai boxing and fine-dining venues ensure that you are certain to find something memorable to do at Patong Beach. If you’re looking for a romantic dinner with a sea view or if you want to meet people while dancing and drinking yourself to oblivion (up to you…), the choice is all yours, and Patong is the place for it!

Karon Beach - Phuket IslandPhuket Island

Phuket Island is the richest province of Thailand, and the island has been gifted by nature; it boasts at least 25 white-sand beaches of all sizes and hills covered by rainforests along with rubber tree and fruit plantations (Phuket pineapples are famous worldwide and are the number one choice of top airlines) – all of this surrounded by the gorgeous Andaman Sea.

History
Tin mining and fishing represented the main income for Phuket for a long time, but since the 80s, tourism has taken over and is now the main source of income. Tourism development has brought a rapid development to the island, resulting in modern roads, an up-to-date infrastructure, widespread internet, and hospitals – all benefiting the community.

Phuket Town is the capital of the island. It is a fair-sized, typical Thai provincial town with shopping malls and supermarkets, as well as a lovely Colonial-Portuguese district dating from 200 years back. Today, Phuket offers the same modern amenities and communication services as many places in Europe or America while maintaining its simple and charming character. It’s worth a day trip to explore.
